Locality Sterling Iron Mine, New York, United States

Radiating, needle-like millerite crystals from the famous Sterling Mine in New York form arguably the finest example of the species in the world. The full specimen is 9 cm long. Millerite, when found in abundance, is an ore of nickel. From the original Frederick Canfield collection.
